Are your soaps and lotions natural?
Our soaps and lotions are, in most cases, 99% natural. The only reason we do not
claim that they are 100% natural is that we use fragrance oils
rather than essential oils in many of our products. Fragrance oils are partly chemical,
sometimes because the fragrance is not found in nature! (For example, there are no such things
as Bubble Gum flowers!) We use fragrance oils because
they are an inexpensive alternative to pure essential oils. So you, the customer,
can use high quality soap and lotion that feels and smells wonderful- without
paying extra to cover the expense of essential oil. If you can't live without a
100% natural product, don't worry! We will be developing recipes with essential oil
blends in the near future.
Are your soaps moisturizing?
Absolutely! Each of our soaps contain a combination of one or more
luxury ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, yogurt, oatmeal, apricot kernel oil,
avocado oil, sweet almond oil, or wheat germ oil. All of these ingredients are not only
moisturizng, but many contain vitamins and antioxidants that
are great for your skin.
What is the difference between your soap and the soap I buy at the store?
Most bar soap that you buy at the store is actually solid detergent-
many soap companies extract the glycerin from their soap
and must add chemicals to solidify what is left over. The result is
solid detergent, not natural soap. Alternatively, much of what is
commonly called "bar soap" is actually detergent-like ingredients
mixed together. Many times, these include chemicals that are suspected
to be harmful to your health! When you make soap yourself
or buy from a soapmaker directly, you can guarantee what you're buying
is natural and good for your skin.
For an excellent article about what constitutes "soap" or "detergent"
and a list of the common ingredients in commercial bar soap, please

"Soap & Detergent: What Is the Difference?"
Can I request a soap made with ... ?
Sure! If you'd like a soap that is high in a certain oil, or if you have
a fragrance that you love, feel free to drop us a note and we'll get in touch
with you! If enough people like the same recipe or scent, you may even see
it sold regularly on our site!
Why is there a "+" next to your soap weights?
By law, we must label our soap by rounding down to the nearest weight, rather
than rounding up. So, when you buy a bar of our soap it is guaranteed to be at least
the listed weight. In almost every case, it will weigh more than the listed weight.
For example, a bar of soap listed as weighing "1.5+ ounces" means that it weighs at least
1.5 ounces, but sometimes the bar you get could weigh as much as two full ounces!
